Football Recap: Carey Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Carey can now relate to. They fell 21-14 to the Wantagh Warriors on Sunday. The loss continues a trend for the Seahawks in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Luke Martini and Joe Nicholson. Martini rushed for 145 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry while Nicholson gained 179 total yards and a touchdown. Martini's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 145 rushing yards.

Carey's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Wantagh, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

Coming up, Carey will challenge Bethpage on Saturday. The Golden Eagles' defense has only allowed ten points per game this season, so the Seahawks' offense will have their work cut out for them. Wantagh does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
