Baseball Game Preview: Bellarmine Prep Lions vs. Mount Tahoma T-Birds

The Bellarmine Prep Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Mount Tahoma T-Birds at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bellarmine Prep will be strutting in after a win while Mount Tahoma will be coming in after a defeat.

Bellarmine Prep will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Capital on Wednesday. The Lions walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Cougars. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lions' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Dolan Wynne made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bellarmine Prep is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-7 otherwise. Wynne was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Xavier Espindola was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aaron Barnhart, who earned two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Mount Tahoma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They came up short against Lakes, falling 11-0.

Bellarmine Prep's record now sits at 7-9. As for Mount Tahoma, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.

Everything went Bellarmine Prep's way against Mount Tahoma in their previous matchup back in April, as Bellarmine Prep made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
