Softball Game Recap: North Henderson Knights vs. Franklin Panthers

North Henderson extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-15 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 7-1 to the Franklin Panthers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 7-1 loss last Wednesday.

As for Franklin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

For Franklin's part, Suzanna Cabe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. Cabe has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ashlyn McConnell and Layla Maloy did most of the damage at the plate: McConnell got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Maloy went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Henderson will venture away from home to face off against Rosman at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Franklin, they will head out to square off against West Henderson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
