Basketball Game Preview: Mercer Mustangs vs. Rocky Grove Orioles

The Mercer Mustangs will square off against the Rocky Grove Orioles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are still undefeated after three-games, but that won't be the case come Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Mercer beat Erie First Christian Academy 75-63.

Meanwhile, Rocky Grove posted their closest win since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lakeview 59-56.

Rocky Grove's win came from a few key players Mercer will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Landen Carter, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Connor Ritchey, who earned 12 points.

Rocky Grove pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Mercer, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
