Preview: Westside Wolves vs. Bellaire Cardinals
Westside is 2-8 against Bellaire since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Westside Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Bellaire Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Westside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 594th, while Bellaire is ranked 200th).
Westside pushed their score all the way to 65 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 74-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lamar. Westside has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Bellaire unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost to Lancaster on the road by a decisive 69-53 margin.
Bellaire's defeat came about despite a quality game from Shelton Henderson, who scored 21 points. The game was Henderson's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Ejypt Gibbs was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Westside has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Bellaire, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Westside came up short against Bellaire when the teams last played back in January of 2022, falling 56-46. Can Westside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
