Basketball Recap: Michael Jesse's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chambers/Wheeler Central over Elgin/Pope John

Chambers/Wheeler Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 53-35 bruising from the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack. If the Renegades were looking for revenge after losing 60-42 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Chambers/Wheeler Central's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Jesse, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elijah Heinz, who had eight points and eight boards.

Jarek Erickson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds for Elgin/Pope John. Karson Kallhoff was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten boards.

Chambers/Wheeler Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Elgin/Pope John, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Chambers/Wheeler Central has already played their next matchup, a 70-20 win against Neligh-Oakdale on the 14th. As for Elgin/Pope John, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-47 victory against Randolph on the 13th.
