Recap: Minico Spartans vs. Emmett Huskies
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Minico Spartans can now relate to. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 34-33 to Emmett. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Emmett got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Quentin Smith out in front who rushed for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Smith's longest rush was for an incredible 83 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Brennan, who rushed for 165 yards and a touchdown.
This is the second loss in a row for Minico and nudges their season record down to 6-4. As for Emmett, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.
Minico does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Emmett will square off against Bishop Kelly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Kelly knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully Emmett likes a good challenge.
