Basketball Recap: North Rowan Takes a Loss + How To Watch

The North Rowan Cavaliers were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 71-70 to the Statesville Greyhounds. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Rowan's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Williams, who went 10-for-20 en route to 25 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Jordan Massenburg, who posted 16 points and five assists.

It was another big night for Manuel (MJ) Gladden, who almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine steals for Statesville. Gladden has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of La'Damien Parker, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

North Rowan now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Statesville, they pushed their record up to 2-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. North Rowan won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lexington Senior at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Statesville, they will challenge Salisbury at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds will need to watch out since the Hornets have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
