Basketball Recap: Roma Gladiators vs. Palmview Lobos
The Roma Gladiators lost against the Palmview Lobos back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The game between Roma and the Lobos wasn't particularly close, with the Gladiators falling 58-41. Roma has struggled against the Lobos recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Palmview was led to victory by Juan Dominguez and Leonardo Rivero. Dominguez scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals, while Rivero scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Dominguez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Gonzalez, who scored ten points.
Roma has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season. As for Palmview, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 24-11.
Roma will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rattlers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Grande City presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Gladiators in Texas (the Rattlers are ranked 661st, while the Gladiators are ranked 1377th). As for Palmview, they will head out on the road to face off against the Toros at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
