Baseball Game Preview: Lebanon Greyhounds vs. Steeleville Warriors

Lebanon is 0-10 against Steeleville since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Greyhounds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m.

Lebanon is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to Marissa/Coulterville.

Meanwhile, Steeleville waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 6-2.

Parker Fiene was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Carson Rednour and Braden Middendorf did most of the damage at the plate: Rednour went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Middendorf went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave Rednour a new career-high.

Steeleville's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lebanon, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lebanon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Steeleville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Lebanon suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Steeleville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Greyhounds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
