Softball Recap: Longmeadow Triumphs

Longmeadow's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the South Hadley Tigers a 2-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lancers have posted since May 14, 2024.

The result came thanks to Isabella Blue's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Delaney Schrager was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

The win got Longmeadow back to even at 3-3. As for South Hadley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Longmeadow will take on rival Monson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, South Hadley is set to challenge their familiar foe East Longmeadow at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 1.5, the Spartans 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
