If Mountain View beats Redmond with 13 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Ridgeview on Friday. Considering the Cougars have won 16 games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Janelle Guiney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kallie Eckman was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Cadence Kennedy was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mountain View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Redmond ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Bend 6-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Mountain View's victory bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Redmond, their win bumped their record up to 7-16.
Everything went Mountain View's way against Redmond when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Mountain View made off with a 13-0 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
