Football Preview: Odem Owls vs. George West Longhorns

The Odem Owls will take on the George West Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated (Odem has six wins , while George West has five).

Odem is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Taft: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Owls blew the Greyhounds out of the water with a 40-6 final score. Those 40 points were actually the fewest the Owls have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to John Hinojosa and Martin Castillo. Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask George West). They blew past Monte Alto, posting a 72-6 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Longhorns just coasted through the last quarter.

George West's win came from a few key players Odem will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kohen Blount, who rushed for 126 yards and one TD. Jaxson Alaniz was another key player, rushing for 37 yards and one touchdown.

George West didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joel Ruiz and Parker Heard.

Odem's record is now 6-0. As for George West, their record now sits at 5-0.

Odem might still be hurting after the 46-23 loss they got from George West in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Owls, Johnalbert Cisneros (who rushed for 204 yards and five scores while picking up 11.3 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
