Softball Recap: Stanton Buffaloes vs. Denver City Mustangs
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Brownfield, Stanton was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Denver City Mustangs by a score of 12-8. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Buffaloes' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Lily Rodgers and Marissa Vasquez did most of the damage at the plate: Rodgers went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles, while Vasquez got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave Rodgers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lacey Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Stanton will square off against Compass Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buffaloes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Denver City, they will challenge Coahoma at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
