Baseball Recap: Ballou Takes a Loss

Ballou extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They came up short against the Jackson-Reed Tigers, falling 19-1. On the bright side, the one- run effort marked the Knights' highest-scoring match to date.

As for Jackson-Reed, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-4. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Jackson-Reed's part, Keith Parham looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Parham has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Petar Dunn was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Gore, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Looking ahead, Ballou will square off against Coolidge at 4:00 p.m. on the 30th. As for Jackson-Reed, they will head out to square off against Maret at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Frogs have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
