Springfield never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against A.J. Ellender on Saturday. They blew past the Patriots 15-4. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.
Joe Ray made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Springfield is 3-1 when Ray allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Ray was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Springfield let Will Sanders and Brock Cothern run wild. Sanders scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Cothern scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
