Softball Recap: Elwood's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Elwood won the last time they faced Eastern and things went their way on Saturday too. The Panthers came out on top against the Comets by a score of 9-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Sandy Jordan looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Addison Stout and Kelsey Armes did most of the damage at the plate: Stout went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Armes went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Journey Crawford was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Elwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Elwood's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Eastern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-18.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elwood will host Alexandria-Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastern, they will square off against Carroll at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Comets are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
