Baseball Game Preview: Boulder Panthers vs. Mountain Range Mustangs

The Boulder Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Mountain Range Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Boulder is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Boulder was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past Brighton 4-3.

Connor Bagnall tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Finn Torvik, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Maks Matheson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Mountain Range was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They came up short against Westminster, falling 15-5.

Mountain Range saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joathan Karey, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Boulder has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Mountain Range, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.

Everything went Boulder's way against Mountain Range in their previous meeting on April 1st, as Boulder made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
