Baseball Recap: Jennings County Has No Trouble Against Brownstown Central

Jennings County came out on top against Brownstown Central on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Panthers blew past the Braves 10-3. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jennings County got a great performance from Cooper Lane as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Lane also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Panthers are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Cole Skinner and Zane Weinhorst did most of the damage at the plate: Skinner went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Weinhorst went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI Skinner has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Chase Young, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Jennings County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brownstown Central only posted an OBP of .321.

Jennings County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Brownstown Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-10.

Looking ahead, Jennings County will face off against Scottsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Brownstown Central, they will square off against New Albany at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
