Softball Recap: Rockledge Victorious

Rockledge won the last time they faced Space Coast and things went their way on Thursday too. The Rockledge Raiders walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Space Coast Vipers.

Haley Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Smith was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ahraya Dalaq, who went a perfect2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Gizelle Arteaga was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Rockledge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Space Coast only posted an OBP of .278.

The win got Rockledge back to even at 1-1. As for Space Coast, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Rockledge will host Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Space Coast, they will head out on the road to square off against Melbourne Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
