Volleyball Game Preview: University Red Devils vs. Lincoln Mustangs

The University Red Devils will venture away from home to take on the Lincoln Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

University is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since September 17, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Cardinal Newman 3-2.

University had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 20-25, 25-18, 25-19, 15-13.

Lincoln not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since November 7, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They blew past Summit Shasta 3-0.

Lincoln was especially dominant in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-13, 25-19.

The victory got University back to even at 1-1. As for Lincoln, they pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

University beat Lincoln 3-1 when the teams last played back in August of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
