Basketball Game Preview: Rocori Spartans vs. Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm

The Rocori Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Rocori and 27 for Sauk Rapids-Rice dating back to last season.

Last Tuesday, Rocori was beaten by Brainerd 55-18. The game marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Sauk Rapids-Rice had to suffer through a 90-30 loss at the hands of Fergus Falls. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while the Otters are ranked 55th).

Rocori's defeat dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Sauk Rapids-Rice, their loss dropped their record down to 0-26.

Rocori came up short against Sauk Rapids-Rice in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 62-57. Can Rocori avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
