Softball Game Preview: DuPont Manual Crimsons vs. Holy Cross Cougars

The DuPont Manual Crimsons will square off against the Holy Cross Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DuPont Manual is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

DuPont Manual had taken Mercy down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Crimsons took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars.

Bailey Fetcher was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bella Newell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Holy Cross' offense. They came up short against Elizabethtown on Monday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Holy Cross' loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for DuPont Manual, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11.

Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. DuPont Manual hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Holy Cross struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

DuPont Manual was able to grind out a solid win over Holy Cross when the teams last played back in May of 2023, winning 6-1. Do the Crimsons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
