Softball Preview: Westmont Warriors vs. Santa Teresa Saints
Westmont hasn't had much luck against Santa Teresa recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Westmont will head out on the road to take on Santa Teresa at 4:00 p.m.
Westmont came up short against Willow Glen on Thursday, falling 15-5. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Westmont saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Ortiz, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI. That's the most RBI Ortiz has posted since back in April of 2024. Sophia Burich also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Santa Teresa earned a 6-2 victory over Leigh on Thursday. The Saints haven't had any issues with the Longhorns recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Lily Silva made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Silva was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Vidal, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Savanna Herbst, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Santa Teresa now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Westmont, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
