Soccer Game Preview: King William vs. West Point

The King William Cavaliers are taking a road trip to face off against the West Point Pointers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. King William is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

King William is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Everything went their way against Westmoreland on Friday as they made off with a 9-1 victory. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded King William with their most commanding win of the season.

Meanwhile, West Point kept a clean sheet against Highland Springs on Tuesday. They beat the Springers by a goal, winning 1-0. The final result isn't all the surprising considering West Point's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Highland Springs are ranked 331st).

West Point's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for King William, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

King William suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to West Point in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
