Baseball Game Preview: Fairfield Tigers vs. Carver Birmingham Rams

The Fairfield Tigers will head out to challenge the Carver Birmingham Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fairfield barely beat Jackson-Olin the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Fairfield blew past Jackson-Olin 17-1 on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

While Carver Birmingham didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Tarrant on Tuesday as Carver Birmingham made off with a 19-3 win. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Ezekiel Woodside was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Dejalin Woodside, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Carver Birmingham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .806. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .600 that Tarrant posted.

Carver Birmingham's record now sits at 11-3. As for Fairfield, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Fairfield came up short against Carver Birmingham when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 14-9. Can Fairfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
