Basketball Game Preview: Key West Conchs vs. Ransom Everglades Raiders

The Key West Conchs will be taking part in a tournament against the Ransom Everglades Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Key West knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Ransom Everglades likes a good challenge.

Key West took a 25-point loss the last time they faced off against St. Brendan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Conchs had just enough and edged out the Sabres 64-62. The game was the first time the Conchs have beaten the Sabres on their court since December 14, 2019.

It was another big night for James Osborne, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (eight). Another player making a difference was Zach Levering, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards.

Key West smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ransom Everglades was able to grind out a solid victory over Coral Park on Friday, taking the game 52-44.

Ransom Everglades' record now sits at 4-5. As for Key West, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4.

Key West couldn't quite get it done against Ransom Everglades when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as they fell 58-49. Thankfully for the Conchs, Daniel Ribeiro (who shot 44% from the field to rack up 29 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals) won't be suiting up this time.
