Basketball Recap: West Nassau Takes a Loss

West Nassau was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Fernandina Beach Pirates 48-12. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 62-31 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

When it comes to explaining why West Nassau lost, don't look at Morgan Middlebrooks. Despite the final result, she posted nine points.

Fernandina Beach had a senior duo take command as Savina Wells dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds and Hadleigh White went 6 of 10 on her way to 12 points and seven steals. Those seven steals gave White a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Winn, who had eight points and six rebounds.

West Nassau's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Fernandina Beach, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

West Nassau wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-32 defeat against Stanton on the 6th. As for Fernandina Beach, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-36 loss against St. Johns Country Day on the 7th.
