Baseball Recap: Berean Christian Wins Going Away Against International

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berean Christian). They were the clear victor by a 20-1 margin over the International Jaguars on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Luke Upshaw was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Upshaw was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Colton Swift was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Riley Sabo was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Berean Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Berean Christian's record now sits at 3-1. As for International, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berean Christian will square off against St. Patrick-St. Vincent at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for International, they will take on Stuart Hall at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stuart Hall will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something International surely won't give up without a fight.
