Basketball Game Preview: Centennial Eagles vs. Windermere Prep Lakers

The Centennial Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Windermere Prep Lakers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Centennial knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Windermere Prep likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Centennial had just enough and edged ABF Academy out 55-52. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Cowboys are ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Centennial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeremy Felix, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 20 points. Felix's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vic Jackson, who posted eight points in addition to nine blocks and five boards.

Meanwhile, Windermere Prep lost to Archbishop Moeller on the road by a 50-36 margin on Monday. The contest marked the Lakers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Centennial has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Windermere Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Centennial came up short against Windermere Prep when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 59-48. Can Centennial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
