Basketball Game Preview: Waller Bulldogs vs. Cypress Ranch Mustangs

Two dominant forwards in Trinity Prince and Averie Steele are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Waller Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Cypress Ranch Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Waller lost 52-30 to Cypress Lakes on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 475th, while the Spartans are ranked 199th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cypress Ranch, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Cypress Park, posting a 59-21 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

Cypress Ranch is also on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.1 points per game. As for Waller, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-13.

Waller might still be hurting after the 62-37 loss they got from Cypress Ranch in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Steele, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 13 rebounds.
