Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jacob Fratzel and Emmitt Peters Lead St. James Academy to Victory

St. James Academy won against Bishop Miege last Friday with 61 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The St. James Academy Thunder took down the Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves 61-46. Given the Thunder's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. James Academy was led to victory by Emmitt Peters and Jacob Fratzel. Peters posted 22 points and seven boards, while Fratzel went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points and six assists. Those seven rebounds gave Peters a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Davis, who had eight points.

St. James Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Blue Valley Southwest had strong showings from Eli Mick, who put up 16 points and five assists, and Wesley Abraham, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points and seven boards. Braden Gibson also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first board of the season.

The win was the third in a row for St. James Academy, bringing their record for this year to 5-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Blue Valley Southwest, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
