Basketball Recap: Cordova Skates Past Nenana with Ease

Cordova came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took their game with ease, bagging a 73-30 win over the Nenana Lynx. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Cordova had a senior duo take command as John Itliong posted 16 points in addition to eight assists and four steals and Noah Pearson dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards. Cordova is 10-2 when Pearson posts eight or more rebounds, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Chiko Jacob, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Cordova smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Cordova pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points over those games. As for Nenana, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

As of now, neither Cordova nor Nenana have any future games scheduled.
