It's playoff time, and Perquimans had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Gates County Red Barons 3-0 on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their 12th in a row.
Perquimans never let Gates County on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-15, 25-22.
Morgan Byrum paced Perquimans' offense, picking up 23 kills. Byrum got some help from Eleanor Howell and her 20 assists. Finally, Byrum was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.
Perquimans' victory bumped their record up to 27-3. As for Gates County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 16-9 record.
Looking ahead, Perquimans will challenge Holmes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gates County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
