Basketball Recap: Jefferson Mustangs vs. Seguin Matadors

Jefferson extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 25 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-23. They were dealt a 71-11 loss at the hands of the Seguin Matadors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Matadors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 back in December of 2025.

As for Seguin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-16. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Seguin found their leader in sophomore Jazlyn Gil, who posted 14 points and five steals. Gil is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Imani Winn, who earned six points along with eight boards and three steals.

Coincidentally, Jefferson and Seguin will both be playing Edison the next time they take the court. The Mustangs will head out to face the Golden Bears at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Matadors will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
