Basketball Game Preview: Hubbertville Lions vs. South Lamar Stallions

The Hubbertville Lions just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the South Lamar Stallions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hubbertville has five straight victories, South Lamar has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Monday, Hubbertville made easy work of Phillips and carried off a 63-38 win. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hubbertville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addison Tucker, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Georgia Gardner was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine assists.

Hubbertville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, South Lamar suffered their closest loss since February 5, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Pickens County by a score of 39-37.

Hubbertville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for South Lamar, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.

Hubbertville took their victory against South Lamar in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 54-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hubbertville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
