Baseball Recap: Fort Calhoun Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

While Fort Calhoun put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Arlington. The Pioneers came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 11-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Kenny Wellwood's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chase Bierman, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Premer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Fort Calhoun's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Arlington, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Calhoun will challenge Raymond Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Arlington, they will take on Malcolm at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Clippers will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
