Softball Game Preview: Tomahawk Hatchets vs. Medford Raiders

Tomahawk is 1-9 against Medford since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hatchets will be playing at home against the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Tomahawk needed a bit of extra time to put away Rhinelander. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Hodags. The victory continues a trend for the Hatchets in their matchups with the Hodags: they've now won four in a row.

Camryn Kraklow spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Averi Petta, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Sophie Olsen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Medford was able to grind out a solid win over Grantsburg on Saturday, taking the game 6-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Medford's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Tomahawk, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
