Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Severance Silver Knights
The Mountain View Mountain Lions will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Severance Silver Knights at 5:30 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Mountain View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Saturday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Mountain View proved. They walked away with a 56-49 win over Rocky Mountain. With that win, Mountain View brought their scoring average up to 51.2 points per game.
Addison Branscum continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Branscum also scored 15+ points for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Keil, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Severance, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They were dealt a 76-37 defeat at the hands of Holy Family on Monday. While losing is never fun, Severance can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while Holy Family is ranked 13th).
Mountain View pushed their record up to 2-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Severance, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Mountain View strolled past Severance when the teams last played back in January by a score of 56-41. Does Mountain View have another victory up their sleeve, or will Severance turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
