Softball Recap: South Charleston Black Eagles vs. St. Albans Red Dragons

Friday just wasn't the day for South Charleston's offense. They suffered a rough 8-0 loss at the hands of the St. Albans Red Dragons on Friday. South Charleston just can't catch a break and has now endured seven defeats in a row.

South Charleston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Frye, who went 1-for-3 with a double.

On St. Albans' side, Ava Bentley was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Bentley has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive pitching appearances. Bentley was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiersten Lacy, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Lincoln County is coming into the matchup with nine straight victories at home, so St. Albans will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
