When it comes to explaining why Salem lost, don't look at Rustin Shoemake. Despite the final result, he posted ten points and five steals. Shoemake is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Perry Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was NaTrell Evans Jr, who scored 13 points. Skylyn Powe was another key player, going 5-for-9 to rack up 12 points.

Salem now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Perry Central, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Salem wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-9 victory against Woodlawn Prep on the 21st. As for Perry Central, they have also already played their next matchup, a 55-52 defeat against George County on the 24th.
