Basketball Recap: Micah Davis Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Manning

There's no place like home for Atlantic Collegiate Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Manning Monarchs 43-41. Given the Armada's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Monarchs are ranked 222nd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Atlantic Collegiate Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Micah Davis, who posted 16 points and seven boards. Zaniya Blackmon was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Several Monarchs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ameerah Conyers, who scored five points and 17 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Taniya Johnson, who had 17 points and five boards.

Atlantic Collegiate Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Manning, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atlantic Collegiate Academy will face off against East Clarendon at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Manning, they will challenge Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
