Baseball Recap: Old Orchard Beach's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

After flying high against Traip on Wednesday, Old Orchard Beach came back down to earth. The Seagulls took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Dominic Saints on Friday. The loss was the Seagulls' first of the season.

Aiden Hodgkins put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Wesley Gallant made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Caleb Aube was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Old Orchard Beach fell to 3-1. As for St. Dominic, they pushed their record up to 2-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Old Orchard Beach will host Mount View at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Dominic, they will head out on the road to take on Mountain Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
