Southlake Carroll has gone 7-1 against Bell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Southlake Carroll Dragons will be playing at home against the Bell Blue Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Southlake Carroll is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Southlake Carroll had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Northwest on Tuesday. Southlake Carroll's pitchers stepped up to hand Northwest a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Olivia Wiske looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low.
At the plate, Southlake Carroll got a massive performance out of Sammy Petkus, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Petkus has posted since back in February. Scarlett Kuhn was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Southlake Carroll hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Bell came into Tuesday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They won by a run and slipped past Keller Central 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Raiders have posted since March 22, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Kenslee Turner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season.
Southlake Carroll's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Bell, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-9.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southlake Carroll hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like Bell struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southlake Carroll skirted past Bell 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2018. Will Southlake Carroll repeat their success, or does Bell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
