Baseball Game Preview: Horse Creek Academy Stallions vs. Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans

For the second straight game, Horse Creek Academy will face off against Ridge Spring-Monetta. The Stallions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Horse Creek Academy has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Horse Creek Academy turned things around against Ridge Spring-Monetta on Tuesday. They walked away with a 17-12 victory over the Trojans. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Stallions considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Bryce Gunter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Horse Creek Academy is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise. Gunter was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

In other batting news, Cannon Blume and Connor Kanagy did most of the damage at the plate: Blume went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Kanagy got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Horse Creek Academy is 3-1 when Blume posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Iniko Barker, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Horse Creek Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Ridge Spring-Monetta's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Horse Creek Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
