Softball Recap: Thornridge Takes a Loss

Softball Recap: Thornridge Falcons vs. Kankakee Kays
Thornridge extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 29 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They came up short against the Kankakee Kays, falling 16-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Kays this season, with their most recent loss being a 13-1 defeat on Monday.
As for Kankakee, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Considering they have won 12 contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Kankakee's part, Kylee Cunningham was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Cunningham has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Kylie Glogowski was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Lillian Landis was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thornridge will host Thornwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kankakee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bloom at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
