It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Spoto had no problem doing just that on Monday. They blew past the Morgan Mustangs 13-1. The high-scoring effort was just what the Spartans needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Jasmine McCray made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. McCray was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Keira Mitchell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Chanel Williams was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Spoto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morgan only posted an OBP of .211.
Spoto is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Morgan, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.
