Football Recap: Garland Owls vs. Naaman Forest Rangers
After flying high against South Garland last Friday, Garland came back down to earth. The Owls fell just short of the Naaman Forest Rangers by a score of 20-17 on Thursday. The Owls were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rangers from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.
Although Garland took the loss, they still got scores from Sam Marshall and Erick Lemus.
Even if they lost, Garland's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Cade McCay refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Lemus got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Naaman Forest found their leader in sophomore Ja'Ki Robinson, who threw for 188 yards and two TDs.
Garland's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Naaman Forest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Garland is set to face off against their familiar foe Rowlett at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. Meanwhile, Naaman Forest will take on rival Wylie at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
