The Glenn Grizzlies will square off against the Lehman Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Glenn is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Lockhart 15-4 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won eight in a row.
Maddy Butler looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.
On the hitting side, Deanna Dailey was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Ally Johnson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
Glenn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Lehman made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cedar Park on Tuesday. Lehman put the hurt on Cedar Park with a sharp 12-1 win. Considering the Lobos' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Malayla Gabriel made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, Isabella Ramirez and Shyanne Pena did most of the damage at the plate: Ramirez scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Pena scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Olivia Montoya, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Lehman has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Glenn's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.
Everything went Glenn's way against Lehman when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Glenn made off with a 9-1 win. Will Glenn repeat their success, or does Lehman have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
