Los Lunas never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past the West Mesa Mustangs 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Matthew Castillo was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2024. Mark Scime also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Los Lunas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Mesa only posted an OBP of .111.
Los Lunas is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for West Mesa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Los Lunas is set to face off against their familiar foe Rio Grande at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, West Mesa will take on rival Atrisco Heritage Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
